Français 1A - Today we took the Lecon 5 Quiz.  Homework: This summer you're going to spend two weeks in France.  Your e-mail correspondent Vincent has written asking what you like and don't like to do on vacation (en vacances).  Respond with a short e-mail, answering his questons.  E-mails must be at least 10 sentences.

Français 3 - Today we recorded our parts of the story for Rene Goscinny's The King!  Homework:  Start studying for the King Quiz which will be mercredi, le 18 décembre.  Print out the Quizlet vocabulary sheet here and bring to class tomorrow.

Français 3 - Using the article that you found yesterday, create a vocabulary list of 10 words in the article that you did not understand.  Ex.) 1.) Blessé = injured  2.) Faire la lèche-vitrine = to window shop.

Then, create a 5-6 sentence summary/opinion of your article.

Français  1A- Today we learned how to talk about the weather. We played Jacques dit using weather expressions and acted out the 'Quel temps fait-il?' dialogue from our textbook with Cecile and Phillipe!

Homework: finish the 4 seasons drawing.  Three weather expressions and three months should be written in French inside each box. Make sure to color a scene for each season.

Français 3 - Those who have presented their Artist Project have truly done a great job!! Bravo!! Tomorrow the last artist projects shall present. Homework is to rehearse in front of a mirror or with a family member.

7th grade: Those who are in the Plays (unless you are a narrator or stage crew) must have lines MEMORIZED by tomorrow.  The play practices this week will be tomorrow right afterschool in the cafeteria and on Thursday.  Please remind your parents! :)  Our play is December 5th at French Night.

Français 3 - Today we started our French Artist Presentations.  Part-time job flyers will be collected tomorrow.  You may do a REAL painting for your French Artist Project as Extra Credit towards your project grade.  This will be due on Friday.

Francais 3 - Today we took a vocabulary quiz for Le Conte pour enfants...   Homework: Finish "Le Monde des Arts" Fill-In  &  Print out 1 Painting from one of the French Artists for class tomorrow!


Did you know???  The Mona Lisa in France is called "La Joconde".   Why?  Because she was a young Florentine woman, Monna (or Mona, short for Madonna) Lisa, who in 1495 married the well-known figure, Francesco del Giocondo, and thus came to be known as "La Gioconda" (the Italian name for her) or in French "La Joconde."

So when you go to the Louvre.... don't ask for the Mona Lisa, but La Joconde!  ;)

Francais 3-  In-class Essay has been MOVED to tomorrow.  Today we had a competition amongst teams to review.  Make a cheat sheet of 20 difficult vocabulary words and bring it to class tomorrow to use for the Essay.  Essays are counting as a quiz grade. 

*Tomorrow is a French Club meeting!   Remember, meetings have been moved to Tuesdays. All new members are always welcome.  :)

Write a 10 line conversation.

Choose one:
A.) A conversation between you and your friend on how you're feeling
B.) A conversation about a mutual friend.  You are both concerned that he/she may be angry, upset, etc.

This can be written just like we write out our skits in class.

Francais 3 -   During class today, we watched a Video Scene de la famille Pasquier.  Corresponding packets were filled out while watching. 

(Lettres a Juliette were collected.  "Heroes and Cool Kids" should leave them in my mailbox.) 

Homework tonight is to complete workbook pages 19-22.  (Attention!  Please SKIP the very last section on page 22 "Les responsabilites")  All three pages must be completed to receive credit for a homework grade.

Francais 3 -  Today we drew cartoons of Idiomatic Expressions in French and did our FLY SWATTER Game!   Winning team will receive 2 extra points on the quiz tomorrow.

Homework:  Study the 7 Idiomatic Expressions on page 39 and how to express body aches and pains.  Tomorrow's quiz will be translations from English to French.

We also had pronunciation practice and learned the following tongue-twister:

Homework: Study numbers; make flashcards for 20 of the most difficult numbers to help you study; there will be a BIG number TEST on Friday 


Français 3 - Today we learned how to use an article with parts of the body.  Example: "What do you have in your hand?" becomes "Qu'est-ce que tu as dans la main?"  Look at page 38 for notes if you were absent.

Francais 1A - Today we played Tic-Tac-Toe to review numbers 60-79.  We also learned the difference between Il s'appelle and Elle s'appelle and the different ways of saying "the".  

• Homework is Exercises 3+4 on pages 32+34 in the textbook.  Please write out the Question and the Answer for Exercise 3.  Also, numbers 3,4, and 5 on Exercise 4 are French celebrities.

Francais 3 - Today we reviewed Body Parts with a game of "Jacques dit".  Congrats to our winners!  We also described celebrities whose pictures were posted around the classroom.

• Homework: On a posterboard, post a celebrity and label Parts of the Body using 20 of the new Vocabulary words from pages 36-37.  This will be due on Thursday and counted as a Test grade.

Francais 1A - Today we  performed the dialogue "Un copain ou une copine?" Lecon 2.  We watched the video module.  Bon week-end!

Francais 3 -  Today we acted out dialogues from Les Trois Bagues.  Les devoirs:  Finissez les questions pour "Le Look" pgs. 33-34 dans le texte.   Finish the hand-out questions on a separate sheet of paper.

*French 3, review possessive adjectives... something may "pop" up on Monday.

Francais 1A  - Today we had our Lecon  1 Quiz.  After the quiz, we played a game with cut outs of our new words on page 27.  Homework tonight is workbook page 15.

* Congratulations to my Block 1 Class!!  The entire class received a 102 on their quiz today!  This is HISTORY!!   I'm so proud of you.

Francais 3 - Today we took a quiz on le Vocabulaire pour Les Trois Bagues.  After quiz, we worked on dialogues for "Les Situations" on page 31.  Homework is to memorize your roles for tomorrow's dialogue.

Francais 1A  - Today we used white boards to review for our Quiz tomorrow.  Tonight's homework is to complete the STUDY PACKET for Lecon 1.   Completed packets will receive 2 extra points on tomorrow's quiz.

Francais 3-  Today we used the laptop cart to review Vocabulary on Quizlet.  Tonight's homework is to study for "Les Trois Bagues" Quiz de vocabulaire.

Francais 1A -  Today we played a game with plates!  We learned numbers 20-60.  Homework tonight is to create flashcards for 20-60.  (15 flashcards total is fine... no need to waste 40 index cards!)  ;) 

Francais 3-  Today we recorded Les Trois Bagues with our cell phones.  Tonight's homework is "Le Testament" page 31.   Read the directions.  Your task is to re-write the story from another character's POV.  This should be written on a separate piece of paper (about 1/2 page).  It will be collected tomorrow.

Francais 1A - Today we reviewed the expressions with Ca va? and answered questions based on real life situations.  Homework tonight is to complete workbook page 12.

Francais 3 - Today we peer-edited summaries for Les Trois Bagues.  We also reviewed the story with Avez-vous compris? Questions on page 28 and 30 in the text.  Tonight's homework is to prepare and REHEARSE your part for the cell phone recording tomorrow.  Bring cell phones to class! ;)

Last night was back to school night.  It was very nice to meet most of your parents!!  Some even won Homework Passes for you.  ;) 

Francais 1A-  Today we cut out silly faces for the 5 expressions of Ca va?  and played games with our partners.  No homework for the weekend - Bon Weekend!

Francais 3 - Aujourd'hui nous avons lu l'histoire "Les Trois Bagues" dans le texte aux pages 27-30.  Ce week-end, faites une sommaire de votre partie de l'histoire (use your own words in the summary).   Monday we will practice in class and Tuesday we will record your part of the story with cell phones.

P.S.  Lulu and Alexa GREAT reading today during class!!!  You are not forgotten. ;)

Francais 3 - Today we presented stories using L'imparfait and Passe Compose.  For homework, start studying notes on the differences between L'imparfait and Passe Compose.  Our next quiz will be on Thursday.

Francais 1A -  Projects are due next Tuesday; Projects are counted as a Test grade

Project:  Use the photo that you brought in of a family member to make your very own French cartoon!

Requirements:

I. Dialogue: The cartoon must say the following things inside a speech bubble:

1. Hello
2. Name
3. What city they are from
4. What nationality they are (they could be more than one!)
5. How old they are
6. Nice to meet you
7. Goodbye

II. Scene: The cartoon must be located in a well-known city ie Paris, London, Rome, Beijing.  The scene should be colored and neatly done.  Projects will be put on display.

Two examples were shown during class today.

Francais III.  Today we reviewed the Passe Compose on white boards.  A list of irregular verbs was distributed in class.  Tomorrow there will be a QUIZ on Passe Compose.

Dr. and Mrs. Vandertrampp verbs, meanings, and past participles
When to use avoir/ etre
How to agree when using etre
Know how to conjugate avoir and etre
Irregular Verb List

Francais 1A - Today we did some MATH in French as a warm-up.  :)  Then we read the dialogue on page 18.  Volunteers performed the skit for the entire class.  Tonight's homework is to bring in a PHOTO of a family member  (pets count, too!).  This photo will be used for our very first project.


Francais 3 - Today we reviewed the Passe Compose - when to use Etre and when to use Avoir.  

Tonight's homework is to make your own Dr. and Mrs. Vandertrampp house.  You will not be graded on artistic ability but you will be graded on neatness and completeness i.e. the houses must contain all the verbs.  

Review test will be on vendredi.

Francais1A - Today we reviewed French accents with a game of 'Jacques a dit'; we learned numbers 0-10 and made flashcards during class.  Homework for tonight is to study flashcards and the spellings of numbers.  OPTIONAL HW is to teach a family member what you learned today in class and to make a video of the family member reciting 0-10 in French.  This will be counted as an extra credit HW grade.  


Francais 3 - Today we took a quiz on Le Petit Nicolas.  After quiz, we finished presentations.  Textbooks were distributed today.  For homework, cover your textbook, get a 1.5 inch binder for class with three sections  (Warm up, Classwork, Les Devoirs), and set up a student account for your Online textbook @ www.classzone.com

Francais 1A -  Today we had a quiz on the French alphabet and greetings.  We learned the French accents on page 17 of the textbook.  Tomorrow we will start class with a game of "Jacques a dit"/ "Simon says" to remember our accent marks.

Francais 3: Summer Assignment essays will be collected tomorrow. Please choose a character from Le Petit Nicolas for your presentation. Presentations will count as the First test grade for the marking period. We will work on the presentations during class tomorrow. 

 Requirements:  1.) Dress up as the character from Le Petit Nicolas  2.) Speak 1 minute in good French about your character  3.) Fabricate a story about this character's life. For example, what happened to them on the playground at school one day?
